 CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Supporting children, young people, families and adults with mental health difficulties.

If you, or someone you care about, experiences psychological difficulties, it can be really overwhelming.  My aim is to to support people to better understand their difficulties and develop strategies to manage their emotions through evidence based therapy.  I believe that building strong relationships with others is important for us all, and I focus on creating a trusting and compassionate space to achieve this.

I'M DR FRANCES BROWN

I am a UK based Clinical Psychologist, having worked in both Scotland and England. I work with people of all ages  who are experiencing psychological distress.

I understand that if you, or someone you care about, experiences psychological difficulties, it can be difficult to know what to do.  My aim is to to support people to better understand their difficulties and develop strategies to manage their emotions though evidence based therapy.  I believe that building strong relationships with others is important for us all, and I focus on creating a trusting and compassionate space to achieve this.

I have worked extensively with people with neurodivergent conditions, such as autism and ADHD. I offer a neuro-affirmative way of working, understanding how to tailor sessions and interventions to best suit each individual.

I offer online appointments across the week and work flexibly, as I know that life can be busy and comes with competing demands.

I also work with parents, with a focus on those who are experiencing perimenopause and menopause symptoms. I have an interest in supporting  mothers to understand how the physical and emotional changes can affect how they feel, how they parent and what can help. I try to keep relationships at the heart of my work with parents.

FAMILY SESSIONS

I believe that our relationships have a significant impact on how we feel, therefore I offer family sessions alongside individual support when required.  Within family sessions, I gain an understanding of attachments and use systemic models to enhance connection and improve interactions among family members.  I also offer parenting interventions and am trained in attachment-focused, as well as behavioural models. I am developing resources for mothers in perimenopause and menopause to support their wellbeing, so they can support their family.
