ABOUT ME AND MY APPROACH

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over ten years’ experience within mental health. I have completed clinical masters and doctoral programmes, after which I worked extensively within the NHS and private settings. I specialise in therapeutic support for children and young people, in addition to working part time in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). I am trained to work with a range of mental health difficulties, such as

  • Anxiety

  • Phobias

  • Obsessive compulsive disorder

  • Depression

  • Trauma

  • Low self-esteem

  • Sleeping issues

  • Eating problems in children.

I offer individual therapy to young people and adults, as well as family sessions to improve relationships among family members.

It can be anxiety-provoking to seek support from someone new, especially for children, so I try to create a calm and relaxed environment. I believe that one of the most important aspects of therapy is building a secure therapeutic relationship, in which people feel heard and valued. I have a warm, compassionate and thoughtful approach, and I also try to bring fun into sessions where possible. I work with people in a collaborative way, promoting their resilience and confidence.

I work with young people or adults either individually or alongside family members or carers, depending on age. I think it is important to get a good understanding of a problem before beginning any work, so I complete a thorough assessment in initial sessions. Once we understand how previous experiences have led to current difficulties and what may be keeping these going, I can choose the most appropriate therapeutic intervention.

I am qualified to deliver a number of therapies, tailored to individual needs. The main models I draw on are:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy

  • Mindfulness

  • Systemic theory

  • Attachment theory

I am also trained in parenting interventions, such as Mellow Parents and Incredible Years (for which I have gained accreditation).
